Terms of service

LAST UPDATED · 2026-07-13

These terms govern your use of the Afloata mobile app and the afloata.com website (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them.

1. What Afloata is

Afloata is an offline-first app for keeping track of boat maintenance: equipment, schedules, service history, checklists and expenses. With an account, your data syncs between your devices through our servers.

2. Early access

Afloata is currently free for individual boat owners. We may introduce paid plans (for example, a fleet tier for charter operators) in the future. Features available in the free plan may change, but we will not silently take your existing data hostage behind a paywall: export is always available.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

4. Your content

Everything you record in Afloata — boats, logs, photos, documents — remains yours. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, back up, and sync that content in order to operate the Service. We claim no other rights to it.

5. Acceptable use

Don't abuse the Service: no attempts to breach or probe its security, disrupt its operation, access other users' data, or use it for anything unlawful.

6. Safety disclaimer — read this one

Afloata's maintenance templates and intervals are general guidance compiled from publicly available manufacturer recommendations. They are not a substitute for your equipment's own manuals, a professional survey, or your judgment as the person responsible for the vessel.

Reminders can be missed, misconfigured or based on data you entered incorrectly. The seaworthiness of your boat and the safety of your crew remain your responsibility. Never rely solely on this app for safety-critical maintenance decisions.

7. Availability

The app is designed to work offline, but sync, backups and other online features depend on connectivity and on our servers, which may occasionally be unavailable. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

8. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see account deletion). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonable.

9. Warranty and liability

The Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. To the same extent, our total liability arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — or zero, while the Service is free. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we will announce them in the app or on this page before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Poland, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
